Emerson previously owned Control Techniques, whose drive business later became part of Nidec. Many Emerson-era AC, DC, and motion control products remain in operation throughout industrial plants, process systems, metals facilities, mining operations, printing equipment, and other demanding applications.

The Repair Process

When an Emerson drive experiences problems, Control Concepts Dallas evaluates both the drive and the conditions surrounding the failure.

Our technicians inspect control boards, terminals, power connections, cooling components, and internal electronics for loose, worn, contaminated, or heat-damaged conditions. We also review available fault history, operating parameters, incoming power, connected motors, mechanical loads, communication systems, and environmental conditions to determine whether the issue originates inside the drive or elsewhere in the application.

Before applying power, technicians can test critical input, output, and power components to reduce the risk of additional damage. Existing parameters are backed up when possible, and the drive is powered under controlled conditions while voltage, current draw, output response, and operation are monitored.

After repairs are completed, the drive is functionally tested to verify proper output and operation. When repairing the existing unit is no longer practical, we can help evaluate replacement, retrofit, or modernization options that fit the surrounding motor control system.

Most drive failures can be avoided through preventative maintenance.
